APOTHECARY: The ULTIMATE Inhalation for Cold & Flu Symptoms

Starting with a cough? Cold? Feeling a bit under the weather? This is the recipe for you!

Studies have shown that essential oils actually are more effective when used in smaller quantities than larger ones. So for example, when eucalyptus was tested to show how effective it was as an 'expectorant' (clearing mucus from the chest), the results showed that 3 drops inhaled gave a better result that filling the room with the fragrance.

So, with that in mind, here is a quick steam inhalation method to help clear that nose, chest and sinuses...

  • Fill a large bowl with hot water

  • Add 1 drop of tea tree, 1 drop of eucalyptus and 1 drop of lavender essential oils

  • Place your head over the bowl and maybe a towel over your head and the bowl to stop the steam escaping.

  • Close your eyes (VERY IMPORTANT!) and gently breathe in the essential oils

  • Do this for a few minutes and then remove the towel and breathe again normally.

  • The eucalyptus should help clear sinuses, the tea tree can help to kill any germs and the lavender may help to relax you. This is great practice to do before bedtime to help you sleep too!
