The January Edit

Happy New Year! Are you a fan of the 'New Year, new me' thing? I feel like I'm past the point of new year resolutions but instead it's just me getting myself together and getting my ass into high gear for the new year ahead.

I think January can be a stressful time for some of us. We put so much pressure on ourselves to become a new person, have new resolutions and then feel disappointed in ourselves if we don't keep them. What can be even worse is the pressure to try and keep new resolutions that are not always easy to keep to.

So this month we are going to focus on stress relief, the impacts it has, not just our mental health, but our skin health too. Let's focus this year on being like little ducks on water... smooth and serene on top but pedalling like hell underneath.

SKINCARE

This month is all about stress-busting methods and one of the best ways to beat stress on the face is by doing facial massage. Not sure how to do it? Why not treat yourself to one of my globe face massagers which basically does the job for you. This can help to release any tension on the face and also make you feel much more contoured too. Combine it with the Vitamin C Serum to give the skin a good grip for the roller to really massage into.

MY SOUP RECIPE OF THE MONTH

This is one of my go-to store cupboard recipes. It's a take on one of my Cookidoo recipes from my Thermomix (I also make it in there too) but you can make yours in a pan if you prefer.

INGREDIENTS FOR SPICY WINTER SOUP:

1 tbsp olive oil for frying

1 cup of frozen soup base from your supermarket (this tends to include chopped carrots, onion and celery)

1 finely chopped garlic clove (I use frozen for this sometimes as well)

1 litre of veg stock

1-2 tbsp of teriyaki or soy sauce

large handful of frozen peas

large handful of chopped greens

1/2 cup gluten free macaroni (or any pasta of your choice)

black pepper

chopped parsley

RECIPE

  • Fry the soup base and garlic in a large pan for a few minutes until softened but not brown

  • add the vegetable stock and cook bring to the boil. Cook for a further 5 minutes

  • add the teriyaki sauce and stir in

  • add the macaroni, kale and peas and cook until the pasta is ready

  • finish with a good grinding of black pepper and sprinkle with chopped parsley

SPOTIFY SONG I'M LOVING RIGHT NOW

Fell in love with this song by Saint Levant the other week and it's been on rotation ever since

CURRENT READ

I'm currently re-reading a classic book to get me through the January blues 'The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck' by Mark Manson. A great thing to read if you have stress or anxiety right now.

INGREDIENT I'M LOVING THIS MONTH

I love ashwagandha when it comes to fighting stress and anxiety. It can help balance our emotions and make us just feel a little more levelled. Taking it in the Adaptogen Inner beauty Boost makes it taste great too (it's cola flavour). This is a great product to have daily to help you with the January blues and any anxiety you have for the coming year.

I hope you had a lovely festive break and I am wishing you all the best for 2023!

Thanks so much for reading,

Emmaline x
