My Favourite Face Oils For All Skin Types

Did you know the first product I ever made was a face oil? In fact, not just any face oil, but The Face Oil which I still have on my retail shelf today. It's an oil I still absolutely adore and I find the smell just so comforting.

There are so many different types of face oils on the market though, so it can be hard to know which is best for your skin. So, I thought it would be a good idea to share some of my favourites. As the nights will be soon drawing in and the temperature starts to drop, a few drops of face oil each night (and even during the day too) can really protect the skin from drying out.

Here are some of my favourites...

It's a classic, simple and nourishing face oil. This oil is made simply from carrier oils and essential oils and is natural as I can get it. Although it doesn't have any 'active' ingredients as such, the essential oils are incredibly powerful.

It is one of the richer oils here, but still can be used for all skin types. The base of oils I use is a blend I created many, many years ago and is what I call my 'Skin Food'. I use this base in my Face Cream as well and it's super nourishing and yet soaks into the skin very easily.

Another classic oil I have been creating for years as well. This oil based face serum is great for those who want something a little more 'active' than The Face Oil. I've added some extra ingredients such as Retinyl Palmitate to help improve the skin's texture and radiance and Acmella Oleracea Extract which can help to firm and smooth the skin.

The base is a blend of rosehip oil, kiwi seed oil and camellia oil, plus many more. It's an incredibly popular oil with my clients as it has such a light texture.

NIMUE SKIN TECHNOLOGY'S HYALURONIC OIL

This is an incredibly hydrating face oil as it contains a new-generation oil soluble hyaluronic acid. The HA is infused in a blend of oils that delivers both intense hydration and moisture, provides water and oil replacement in the skin simultaneously. A great oil for colder climates but also a lovely treatment to be worn daily.

HOW DO I USE FACE OILS?

Many people do not always know how to incorporate oils into their skincare regimen. I talk a lot about how to layer your skincare products (I even did a blog post on it which you can read here). The easiest way to think about it is by working from light to heavy. Water based products always go on first and oils after. Then, finally followed by SPF if it's during the day.

To apply a face oil, you only need around 3-5 drops depending on your skin type (less for oiler skins) and gently warm the product in the palms of your hands. Then press the oil onto your face on top of all your skincare products and before your SPF. If it's in the evening that you're wearing it, then it's the last product you apply.

As always with any skincare product, massage any leftover product into your hands and arms.

Have you tried using a face oil before? Do you like them?
