How To Get Your Best Hair Yet

There are so many hair care products on the market it can be a little overwhelming. I've tried countless ones over the years, but I believe hair is like skin, you have to look after it to see the best result. It's no good having the best products but you're tying it back with an elastic band or you're being rough with it when you brush it.

I look after my skin as best as I can and I would say that I do practice what I preach (99.9% of the time anyway!). I also try and do the same with my hair. For years I've been doing a hair treatment weekly (among other things) and I can say that when I get my hair cut (probably only 2-3 times a year), it always seems to be in pretty good condition - so I guess what I'm doing seems to be helping.

Here are my personal top tips for healthy and nourished hair...

DO A TREATMENT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK

I have been using my Pom Pom Pomade for years now, actually I've been using it since well before I decided to create it for retail. The night before I plan to wash my hair, I simply brush it and then massage a few pumps of oil into the hair and scalp and give it a quick massage. I then leave it in overnight and wash it in the morning. The results are soft, healthy and bouncy hair. Plus it smells absolutely divine too!

PROTECT IT WITH A TURBAN

This might sound a little over the top, but I love to wear a silk hair turban when I go to bed with oil in my hair to keep it off my face, the oil off my pillow and also to help the oils penetrate better. I also use it if I do a hair treatment during the day.

INVEST IN A SILK PILLOWCASE

Since the moment I changed to a silk pillowcase I have never gone back. In fact, I always contemplate taking one on holiday with me because the thought of a cotton pillowcase on my hair and face upsets me (absolutely first world problems I know!). Silk pillowcases have so many skin benefits but are also amazing for your hair. They tend to stop your hair from breaking the same and also stop it getting as greasy as well. That's a win win in my book.

SILK HAIR TIES MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Is there a theme here? Silk, silk and more silk! Silk hair bobbles are just the best. They don't snap your hair and they are just so much kinder overall to prevent split ends too. Worth every single penny in my opinion.

EAT YOUR WAY TO GREAT HAIR

Supplements containing biotin are brilliant for hair, skin and nails. The Advanced Nutrition Programme's Nail Science might sound like it's just for nails but also works wonders for your hair as well. Skinade is another great supplement where clients have mentioned how much it's improved their hair growth.

NON-HEAT HAIR CURLERS

These are are a great way of curling your hair whilst you sleep. You simply wrap your hair around the foam roller and then tie it together at the back. Then you can leave it in overnight or just for a few hours while your hair dries. When it's ready, simply take out the roller and you have beautiful curls without heat. Try the heatless curler here for just £6.99
