The Lazy Guide To Skincare

This time between Christmas and New Year feels like a bit of a blur. It almost gives me lockdown flashbacks of when I didn't know what day it was and we all were making silly meme jokes about it being the 45th of Jun-vember or something daft like that.

Anyhoo, it got me thinking about that time between Christmas and New Year and how our habits change when it comes to self-care. I think we're in that phase of "I'll start fresh in Jan and until then I will just eat chocolate and biscuits all day". I guess it's a time when we can be slightly lazier and lax when it comes to our skincare routine.

How about (hear me out now!) if we used the extra time we have to try some new skincare ideas and see how they fit into our skincare routine. I have some clients who I know would love to try and build in new products and tools but are not too sure where they fit in. Well, here's some tips on how you can lozzack around the house and be skincare savvy at the same time.

What to do when you are...

WATCHING A FILM/TV

Pop on a face mask. I would recommend something that can be left on so you're not getting up after 10 minutes to remove it. Why not try one of the Meder Sheet Masks or the Nimue Anti-Aging Leave-on Mask (contact me here to purchase). Both these masks are super hydrating and can be left on longer than the usual ten minutes.

WAKING UP WITH A PUFFY FACE FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE

Skincare tools are perfect for these occasions. My ice roller is great to use first thing in the morning to take out any puffiness in the face. Take it out of the freezer and roll it over your face to take down and inflammation after an overindulgent night of ____________ (I'll let you insert the necessary words here!) I love to do this before I've cleansed my face in the morning, so doing it in your PJ's is perfect as I trundle around the house tidying up.

GOING TO STAY AT A FRIENDS HOUSE BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO LUG YOUR SKINCARE

Do not reach for the face wipes!! I know, it can be tempting when you're just staying one night, but they can cause so much damage to your skin. Instead, why not treat yourself to the 'facial in a box' and take your minis with you. They will practically fit in your pocket and your skin won't have to be sacrificed either.

TREATING YOURSELF TO A LONG BATH

Yes, a face mask can be perfect in the bath, but have you tried massage? Massage is so amazing for the skin to remove tension from the muscles and also help you to relax as well. Just pop a couple of drops of oil to your face before you get in the bath and then use my Globe Massage Roller or one of my Gua Sha's to massage away tension. You could always pop a mask on afterwards if you're really long to have a looonng soak.

FEELING TIRED AND JUST CAN'T GET MOVING IN THE MORNING

Before I shower now I love to use my Body Brush all over me to wake me up. Simply use the brush on dry skin in long sweeping movements ALWAYS TOWARDS THE HEART (e.g. up the legs, down the chest towards the heart). It stimulates the whole body and really helps to wake you up.

SUFFERING FROM OVERINDULGING

We all get to that point when we physically can't even look at chocolate, biscuits, cheese etc and feel like if somebody hugs us too tight, nutella might come out of our nose and ears. When I feel like I've overdone it with the indulgences, I love to opt for The Beauty Chef CLEANSE (or GLOW) powder and the ANTIOXIDANT Inner beauty Boost. The CLEANSE Inner beauty Powder helps to de-bloat my tummy and get rid of any stagnant toxins that might be lingering. The ANTIOXIDANT Inner Beauty Boost gives my immune system a kick start and puts a 'pep' in my step from the green tea extract.

I hope you have a really lovely week and also I hope you had a lovely Christmas too!

Wishing you all the best for the New Year!

Lots of love,

Emmaline
