There is nothing more stressful than trying to be consistent with your skincare routine. Skincare can take over your life and make it very complicated if you let it. I know the feeling all too well, because I've tried so many products on the market and now I stick think I've found my groove! Let's dive into some simple tips on how you can make sure that your routine isn't stressing you out:
Keep it simple.
You don't need a lot of products to keep your skin healthy, so the fewer you use, the less likely you are to overdo it and the more likely you are to maintain a balanced routine that works for your skin type. I've always been one for less is more when it comes to skincare—and with good reason! The more products thrown at our faces, the higher the chance that some of them might irritate us or cause an adverse reaction.
A good cleanser, serum, moisturiser and SPF can be all you need for a very simple and basic routine. If you want to amp it up a little, an eye cream and exfoliator can do wonders and of course, there's always extra options to increase it further with masks, peel pads etc too. Sometimes though, less it more to begin with and then gradually build up your product collection as you need to.
Focus on consistency.
If you want to be consistent in your skincare routine, it's best to keep things simple. This means avoiding time-consuming products and complicated routines that could easily get derailed by stress. Instead, focus on the essentials: cleansing and moisturising (plus SPF).
To make this process easier for yourself, try setting aside a few minutes each morning or night for your skincare routine—just enough time to do what needs doing without going overboard. As an added bonus, making it fun will help keep stress out of the equation! You can even play some music while you're at it—or better yet, ask someone else in your household (a sibling or spouse) if they'd like to join in on the fun with their own skincare routine too.
Multitask
If you're struggling for time, why not exfoliate or mask whilst you're in the shower? Or, with the Meder Beauty Masks, you could apply one and even do a yoga practice at the same time.
Don't overcomplicate your routine.
If you’re anything like me, you probably have a near-obsessive need to keep track of every product and step in your skincare routine. You might have read a dozen articles on the best way to use face masks, or how often you should be exfoliating for maximum results. And then there are all those new products that pop up on Instagram and YouTube every day—how will you ever choose which ones are worth adding to your routine?
The answer: don't overcomplicate things! Don't worry about what other people are doing, or try to do too many things at once; instead just focus on making sure that everything works together harmoniously in the end.
Focus on self-care.
Self-care isn't just for the rich and famous. It's for everyone, even those of us who work in a fast-paced office environment or are in school. Self-care can mean anything you want it to be—from taking a long bubble bath with some essential oils, to watching an episode of Friends on Netflix while eating ice cream straight out of the carton (we won't judge). The important thing is that you are taking care of yourself on some level, even if it's just by making sure you're getting enough sleep each night.
When things get stressful at work or school (which they inevitably will), take time out from whatever project you're working on and do something relaxing instead. For example: read an article about skincare tips; check out articles from other websites about mental health; write down your favorite moments from the past few days; email your friends back home and catch up; doodle some things; drink some water!
Make it multi-purpose.
In order to add as much value and joy as possible, your skincare routine should be able to serve multiple purposes. For example, if you like using a face mask (who doesn’t?), why not use one that also doubles as an exfoliant? This way you can not only pamper yourself but cleanse your skin at the same time.

By keeping your skincare routine simple and consistent you are more likely to be happy with the results
A skincare routine is like a good marriage: it's easier to maintain if you keep it simple and consistent, and the payoff can be great. You'll be more likely to stick with it, which will make you feel good about yourself and your skin.
We all know that self-care is important. But sometimes we get so caught up in our crazy lives that we forget how much better we'd feel if we took the time to take care of ourselves on a regular basis.
I hope these tips help you keep your skincare routine stress free. Remember, the most important thing is to keep it simple and consistent!
